Part of ‘Ideas In Ideas’
The intriguing Miss Valentina, above — in reality, Shakti Orion — “comes from an occupational-therapist background”, which she finds helpful when she encourages participants in her workshops at the Idea Store in Whitechapel to “reflect on their own experiences of learning, using drawing, movement, and speech to investigate individual journeys”.
Orion says she draws on sculpture, sound design, performance and other skills she has developed as an artist and teacher. She adds: “Miss Valentina brings some fun to the work.”
THANK HEAVEN for the Arts Council. Without it, we might never see shows with names like Ideas In Ideas which, in keeping with the tradition of innovative exhibitions, is described as “interactive” and “site-responsive”.Hamish Scott
