While I worked at The Albany nursing home doing a dance session for the residents I felt the urgent need of looking at them with my camera, as time passed by I got to know their stories, understand their gestures and explored the life-world of residents living in the home, they all live a life inside the home and another different world goes by outside their windows, not always aware of the old age population. We live in a society that places lots of emphasis on staying young and bypass old age.
These photographs show seven residents whose faces express acceptation of a mixture of happiness and sadness in their lives. One can imagine their life stories when these photographs look at you. They have laughed, cried, sang, experienced fear, anger, love and more, for a lifetime and it shows in their attitude, their expressions, their actions and even in their inaction.
